What Should Raw Sea Moss Look and Smell Like?
Raw sea moss is a natural ocean-harvested product.
You may notice a natural ocean or fishy smell when opening the bag. This is normal for raw seaweed and is one reason proper rinsing and soaking are important.
You may also see natural salt and small traces of ocean debris.
The sea moss should be rinsed thoroughly before soaking and blending.
Color and texture naturally vary from harvest to harvest.
How To Prepare Raw Sea Moss
Begin by rinsing the sea moss thoroughly several times with clean water.
Place the rinsed sea moss in fresh water and allow it to soak until it becomes softer and expands.
Fresh lemon or lime may be added to the soaking water if desired.
Once softened, blend the sea moss with clean water until you reach the consistency you prefer.
Prepared sea moss gel should be refrigerated.
